For generations, the descendants of the powerful telepath known as the Rowan have utilized their diverse talents to assist humanity. Some possess telepathic abilities, while others can transport themselves through space, and still others are empathic healers. The clan has amassed considerable influence, leading Earth to form an alliance with the extraterrestrial Mrdini. Together, these two races have successfully repelled the hostile Hivers, a deadly insectoid species that annihilates all life in its path. However, like many influential families, the Rowan clan has also acquired adversaries. Critics argue that the agreements with the Mrdini have been disadvantageous, particularly in terms of the allocation of habitable planets - with accusations that the Mrdini receive an unfair portion of new living spaces. Additionally, there are calls for the extermination of the Hivers and concerns regarding the concentration of power within a single family.

In order to maintain peace, the clan has set two key objectives: assisting the Mrdini in controlling population growth to ensure a more equitable distribution of newly discovered planets, and putting an end to Hiver advancements once and for all. Despite facing challenges such as acts of sabotage and assassination attempts aimed at undermining their efforts, the clan remains optimistic about achieving success.
